An Ocean City firefighter was in Superior Court on Monday, March 24, facing charges of assaulting his girlfriend in December.
Jeremy S. Sullivan, a two-year city firefighter, is charged with assaulting his girlfriend on Dec. 14 at around 5 a.m., The Press of Atlantic City reported.
According to The Press article, Sullivan’s attorney, John Tumelty, said the incident took place in her apartment in Ocean City.
The article said Sullivan and his girlfriend, who is not named, had been out the evening of Dec. 14 and later got into an argument in the woman’s home, and the disagreement turned physical.
The description of the struggle was that the victim was choked “to the point where she had difficulty breathing.” Eventually she was able to call 911, but hung up, the article said.
Sullivan was charged with purposely or knowingly causing bodily injury to another person. He also faces a disorderly persons charge, The Press said.
He is scheduled to be back in court on Wednesday, April 2.
