North Wildwood Man Arrested in Drug Raid

NORTH WILDWOOD – A city man was arrested Friday, March 21, and charged with distribution of heroin and other drug-related crimes.

Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and North Wildwood Police Chief Katherine Madden announced the arrest of Tahiem Howell, 46, of the 200 block of East 17th Avenue.

On March 21, the Prosecutor’s Office’s Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force, the federal DEA and the North Wildwood Police Department concluded an investigation into the distribution of controlled dangerous substances by Howell that included executing search warrants on Howell and his residence, with the help of the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team.

As a result of the searches, approximately three ounces of cocaine, one ounce of heroin, paraphernalia related to drug distribution and approximately $1,500 in cash was seized.

Howell was charged with two second-degree counts of possession with intent to distribute; two second-degree counts of endangering the welfare of a child; two third-degree counts of possession of CDS; one third-degree count of distribution of CDS in a school zone; one third-degree count of money laundering and one fourth-degree count of distribution of paraphernalia.

He was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center pending court proceedings.

Individuals convicted of second-degree crimes are subject to a prison term of five to 10 years.
