Here’s March: roaring in like a lion.
 Speaking of lions, the Cat in the Hat is coming to Woodbine tomorrow.
Assembly begins about 9 a.m., with in-class reading by “guest readers” to follow.
This year’s theme is “The Places You’ll Go.”

Today Woodbine Elementary School is having “African American Cultural Event Day” with a special program at 1 p.m.
The community is invited to join with Woodbine Elementary for this celebration closing February’s festivities.
Woodbine Elementary School initiated Black History Month Feb. 3, with a “student geared” assembly directed by Ms. Dubose.
Brittany Jacobs, eighth grade, announced the nations as Ms. McGay’s pre-k and Mrs. Jones’ kindergarten paraded a visual presentation of the flags of all the African Nations.
The first grade colored pictures of famous blacks which were hung in the all purpose room for all to view.
Mrs. Newman’s third grade class created squares for a beautiful Underground Railroad quilt.
Newman gave an oral report about the history and purpose of the quilt, which was assembled and sewn by the nurse, Mrs. Fee.
  Eighth grade students presented The History of Black History Month, administered The Birmingham Pledge, and sang solo, “Lift Every Voice.”
Last Friday was the traditional Black American Luncheon, followed by a play based on the life of Harriet Tubman, “the Moses of her people.”

Woodbine AARP meets tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.

Woodbine Borough Council meets tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.

Woodbine Elementary School PTA is scheduled to meet March 6.
Please check with the school for the time of this meeting.

The St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Shop will have its winter Bag Sale March 6 through March 11.
Fill a brown paper bag for only a dollar.
(Bring your own bags, if you can; bring extras if you have those, too).
The Thrift Shop will then close for spring restocking, re-opening March 16.

 It’s Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent, in Western Christianity.
 Six weeks of no chocolate, no alcohol, and a spiritual impetus to have a better report from the dietician in April.
