When the Wind Blows, Cape May County Will Rock

By Herald Staff

MOUNT HOLLY — The National Weather Service here has issued a wind advisory in Cape May County in effect from midnight Wednesday, Feb. 11 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12.
According to the weather service, a strong area of low pressure will move from the plains into southern Canada tonight. The cold front associated with this low will cross the region late tonight.
As the front moves through, there will be showers and possibly some thunderstorms. As the low moves away from the region on Thursday, the pressure gradient will tighten between this low and building high pressure from the west.
Gusty west wind will develop behind the front. The wind could gust to 35 mph tonight with even higher gusts possible in any thunderstorms.
A further increase in wind speed is expected during the day on Thursday gusts could reach as high as 45 mph.
The wind will diminish late Thursday night.
A wind advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult…especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Please take this time to secure any objects, such as trash cans, that can become airborne in strong winds.
