Stone Harbor Floods, Drains, Cleanup Begins

By Al Campbell

STONE HARBOR — Like other Cape May County barrier islands, this community was flooded by the coastal storm that began Thursday, Nov. 12, and continued through the day and night and into Nov. 13.
At high tide, 96th Street, the borough’s entrance and main business district, was flooded.
As the tide went down, and portions of the street were still under water, public works crews were busy clearing debris.
Police were stationed at 96th Street and Third Avenue to warn motorists from the deep water there.
A full damage assessment will not be made until the storm passes, possibly on Saturday.
