County Begins to Dig Out From Record Setting Snowstorm

WILDWOOD– Morey’s piers employees began at 6:30 a.m. with the labor intense task of clearing a path to the piers. The boardwalk had a least one foot of snow. Many streets in Wildwood were lined with Atlantic City Electric trucks as crews worked to restore power.
Power at the Cape May County Zoo was lost during the storm however crews were able to restore power this afternoon. County employees are caring for animals as well as clearing snow and downed trees from the park and zoo.
County Road Crews continue to plow and salt the 210 miles of county roads and bridges. Downed trees and electrical wires have hampered the clean up process. Surfaces remain slippery.
Nine transitional care centers remain open in Cape May County for residents without power.
