Cape Island Creek Floods Three Streets

By Jack Fichter

CAPE MAY- A strong coastal storm brought Cape Island Creek up into Bank, Venice Avenue and Elmira Street here.
The low-lying streets normally flood during heavy rain and storm events. In addition, the intersection of Washington Street and Texas avenues also flooded during high tide.
Overall, Cape May fared well on the ocean side other than beach erosion. Television crews from New York City stations were broadcasting live from the Pavilion at the Cover at the west end of the city.
The Cove Restaurant also fared well despite losing a sand dune in front of it earlier this year.
