With so many wonderful events going on in Upper Township and Ocean City, there are plenty of opportunities to spend quality time with loved ones, which is my favorite part of the season.

The Ocean City Historical Museum offers just such an opportunity with their new exhibition of artifacts and pictures of the Sindia, a four masted barque that beached itself between 16th and 17th streets in Ocean City on Dec. 15, 1901.
The Sindia Exhibit also features porcelain artifacts, tapestries and pictures.
This exhibit will run until Jan. 15, 2006.
Ocean City Historical Museum, Inc. will commemorate the 104th anniversary of this shipwreck on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 1 p.m.
The afternoon includes a performance by a local harpist, Stephanie Sussmeir and a lecture on the Sindia by John Loeper, President of Ocean City’s Historic Preservation Commission.
The afternoon also includes a slideshow about the Sindia, which will be lead by OCHM Vice-President and local author, Fred Miller.
Light refreshments will be served.
For those of you who would like more information about the Sindia, the museum’s publication “The Saga of the Sindia: December 15, 1901” is for sale at the museum’s gift shop.
This would make a nice gift for any history buffs on your list.
Additionally, the Ocean City Historical Museum has 2006 calendar featuring the history of the 2.5 miles Ocean City Boardwalk.
It contains pictures from 1887 through 1952.
This sounds like another great nostalgic gift that has practical value too.

Don’t forget to stop by the Ocean City Arts Center, 1735 Simpson Ave., to visit their charming “With Love for Our Children” exhibit, which runs through Dec. 30.
On Friday a reception for the children exhibiting their artwork follows the Atrium Tree Lighting at 6 p.m.
Every year this exhibit grows in its quality of art, and this year’s exhibit is no exception.
There are two-dimensional and three-dimensional items of deep color and exciting imagination.
The work is a chosen selection from the Ocean City area schools’ art programs.
Come and enjoy the creativity of children!
