VILLAS – For the week beginning May 14 through May 18, the contractor performing work on the Bayshore Road project in Villas will be excavating the northbound lane and shoulder of Bayshore Road from Alabama Avenue to Wilde Avenue. Initially, this portion of the road will be excavated to a depth of 14”, and a new roadbed consisting of 6” of dense graded aggregate and new base paving will be installed.
The excavation work and grading is expected to begin May 14 and last until May 18. On May 18, beginning around 4 p.m., the contractor will begin the paving operation which is expected to be completed late Friday night, May 18.
Southbound traffic will be maintained without change this week while construction progresses.
Beginning on Monday morning, May 14, traffic heading northbound on Bayshore Road will be detoured at Greenwood Avenue to Woolson Road to Fulling Mill Road back to Bayshore Road. Local traffic heading north will be permitted to travel up to Wilde Avenue heading north on Bayshore Road but not further.
Residents living along the west side of Bayshore Road from Wilde Avenue to Alabama Avenue will have access to their residences; however, if possible, it is encouraged that they store their vehicles out of the construction zone for their own convenience. Residents with specific access needs can coordinate with the contractor or county regarding those accommodations.
Once the paving operation is completed Friday night, May 18, the nort bound lane of Bayshore Road will be re-opened to traffic, weather permitting.
Motorists are urged to use caution when driving through the construction zone for their safety and for the safety of the workers.
