By On Deck Staff

WILDWOOD CREST – The Borough of Wildwood Crest, in conjunction with the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority (GWTIDA), hosted the annual Seafarers Celebration Saturday, bringing huge crowds to the Sunset Lake and beachfront areas throughout the daylong festivities.
Scores of arts and crafts and food vendors, along with live music and various family and children’s entertainment, lined the Sunset Lake area along New Jersey Avenue during the daytime portion of the event.
Shortly before the sunset, the event reconvened along the beautiful Wildwood Crest beachfront. Thousands of revelers were treated to more live music and food at the Gazebo-by-the-Sea at Rambler Road and Ocean Avenue, before the renowned Hegeman String Band marched up the Wildwood Crest Bike Path from Rambler Road to Fern Road Park for a scintillating performance that saw dozens of people performing the Mummers Strut. The evening culminated with a spectacular 20-minute fireworks show that light up the skies above the Wildwood Crest beaches.
