Come to the Humane Society of Ocean City to meet the author and illustrator of “The Duffy Chronicles” Barbara Hammond.
Learn how to adopt a pet from the expert. “Duffy”!
Barbara will share this story of a shelter puppy in search of his true home and his purpose in life. Duffy and his side kick Benson (the other family dog) take us through a life’s journey through Duffy’s eyes.
There will be two children’s workshops on Saturday, August 23rd from 10:30 to noon. Children will explore writing activities that focus on their own pet or one of the shelter residents. The children will also have a chance to design a poster and share their own pet stories with Barbara and other representatives of the Humane Society of Ocean City.
On August 21st at 7 pm Barbara will host a “family night” at the shelter. There will be a book signing and an opportunity to discuss the “Duffy Chronicles” in more detail regarding Duffy”s life and how shelters have progressed to become more of an adoption facility than a dumping ground.
A portion of the proceeds from the purchase of “The Duffy Chronicles” will go to the Humane Society of Ocean City’s Paw Safari dog social/training area. This will be a place that even Duffy himself would have been proud of. Books can be purchased at various locations throughout Ocean City.
For questions about any of these programs, please call the HSOC at 609-399-2018 seven days a week between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The Humane Society of Ocean City is a no-kill cat and dog shelter dedicated to placing their adoptable animals in loving homes or providing them a safe and comfortable home at the facility for life.
