OCEAN CITY – A student at Ocean City High School was suspended Feb. 19 after he brought shell casings to school in his jacket; however, according to published reports, the student, 15-year-old Matthew Grimley, is permitted to attend a weekend field trip to Washington.
Grimley, of Palmero, was due to leave Feb. 21 with the school’s Junior State of America Club for the trip, where they would meet with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
School administrators have not commented on the specifics of the incident, as it is a student-related matter. Board President Joe Clark said Grimley’s suspension was not solely decided based on the district’s weapons policy.
