OCEAN CITY – The woman whose body was found in the ocean the afternoon of Sept. 29 near 57th Street in Ocean City has been identified, according to New Jersey State Police Department’s Facebook page.
Police posted two distinctive pictures of her tattoos and quickly received information from the community to identify the victim and contact her family.
The woman has been identified as Cheryl Reda, 47, of Ocean City. Her cause of death has been ruled by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office as drowning and the manner of death has not yet been determined.
The New Jersey State Police Major Crimes Unit, Missing Persons Unit, Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean City Police Department responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing, but the death is not considered suspicious and there were no obvious signs of trauma to the victim.
