Special Olympics Crabbing Competition in Sea Isle

By On Deck Staff

On Aug. 18, the Sea Isle City Italian American Club (SICIAC), in cooperation with the Sea Isle City Department of Community Services, will host the 19th annual Joe Distasio Special Olympics Crabbing Competition.
Once again, the event will take place at several bay-front locations around the island, including the Townsend Inlet Yacht Club, the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City and the Municipal Marina at 42nd Place and the Bay.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and will be followed by a picnic and award ceremony adjacent to the Municipal Marina.
According to SICIAC President Bill Zeuner, “The event is very satisfying in many ways. It’s great fun for the Olympians and everyone else who participates. We are looking forward to another successful year and expect everyone to once again fully enjoy themselves.”
Many volunteers ensure that the event runs smoothly. Each year, they also accept cash donations to help defray the costs. To make a donation, or to learn more, call 609-425-1350.
