Rio Grande Construction Begins

Motorists should be prepared for detours as early as Monday morning when work is expected to shut down the roadway from Susquehanna Avenue to Park Boulevard. P and D Construction of Vineland, the contractor, estimates that the major portion of the first phase would take about 30 days to complete. The first few weeks in June may be needed to “button up” and repave any remaining portions of open road, according to Bob Perna, of P and D Construction. Lou Ferrara, director of development, said the city is looking to expedite the project so business owners along the roadway will be inconvenienced as little as possible.  The second phase of the project such as curb replacements and cosmetic changes is scheduled to begin after the summer season.
