ERMA – Lower Township police and Wall Township police are working to locate a missing Cape May mail carrier whose car was found abandoned on the Garden State Parkway (GSP) in Monmouth County.
Published reports say Corey McFadden, 33, of Villas, left his home without his wallet or cell phone and started driving north on the GSP. An article posted on wpgtalkradio.com carried the headline reading, “Cape May, NJ, Mailman Missing; Car Found in Monmouth County.”
Lower Township Police Department (LTPD) posted on its Facebook page that they are seeking the public’s assistance in locating McFadden, who was reported missing by co-workers May 1 after not showing up for work.
“The investigation has led police to believe he may have made his way to northern New Jersey. However, it is unknown if he is still in the Cape May County area,” the LTPD page says.
The WPG report said the last anyone spoke to McFadden was April 28. The Wall Township police located his car April 30 on the side of the GSP at mile marker 96.4 in Wall Township. The article said the keys were in the car but McFadden was gone. Efforts to locate his trail with tracking dogs were hampered by rain that apparently eliminated any scent.
Wall Township Police Department asked residents in the area to check any residential security camera footage they might have. It’s not known if McFadden tried to continue going north toward New York City, or if he tried to return to his home in Cape May County.
McFadden is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. If anyone has any information, they are urged to contact Lower Township police at 609-886-2711.
