VILLAS — The campaign of Republican mayoral candidate Erik Simonsen, Deputy Mayor Kevin Lare and Ward 2 Council member Walt Craig continued to build momentum over the last several weeks through the candidates’ efforts to hit the streets and share their Four-Point Plan with township residents.
“We have worked hard to prioritize issues that we believe are important to move Lower Township in the right direction. Our plan to hold the line on taxes, account for all spending and eliminate waste, invest in roads and flood control and help the police make our streets safer has captured the attention of the township residents we have spoken with,” said Simonsen.
The campaign continued to build on its momentum when a large crowd of supporters turned out for a campaign kick-off rally at the Simonsen – Lare – Craig campaign headquarters. The enthusiastic crowd clapped and cheered during speeches from the candidates as well as from Cong. Frank Lobiondo, freeholders Jerry Thornton, Len Desiderio, and Kristine Gabor; Freeholder and Surrogate candidate Susan Sheppard and Sheriff Gary Schaffer.
A few days later, Lobiondo, Sheppard, Craig and more than 25 volunteers were followed by News Channel 40 as they knocked on several hundred doors in Wards 1 and 2. “It is a true honor to have Cong. Frank Lobiondo lend his support and leadership to the Simonsen, Lare and Craig campaign at our campaign headquarters rally and again canvassing the neighborhoods talking to voters. It is abundantly clear, the biggest concerns of our residents are their taxes, having safe neighborhoods and making certain Lower Township lives within its’ means.
“People are excited and refreshed to know our campaign is talking about the issues we face instead of demonizing good people like Frank LoBiondo just because they are a Republican. The issues facing our town far transcend politics and now is not the time for the petty, childish attacks,” said Lare.
Craig added, “It was a real pleasure campaigning with Cong. LoBiondo, Sue Sheppard and members of the Carpenters Union today. The reception was warm and the feedback was very positive. Our campaign commitment to a Four-Point Plan designed to make Lower Township an affordable, better place to live was well received by the residents that we spoke with today.“
