SEA ISLE CITY — Michael J. McHale, is asking the citizens of Sea Isle City for their support as he seeks re-election to City Council in the city election on May 12.
According to a release, McHale has served this community in the past as Mayor, Commissioner, President of Council his first year as Councilman, and is serving as Councilman in the second year of Sea Isle City’s new form of government.
He is a strong advocate for openness in government, and views citizen committees to be an important part of government operations. He appreciates the many involved citizens who have served on the various citizen advisory committees, boards, commissions and other citizen groups. They have been an important element in helping to make Sea Isle a better community.
Mike looks forward to working with the Administration, Council, Finance Committee, and city organizations to find ways to run the city more productively and efficiently. He feels that the involvement of our citizenry is our future.
He states that in the last two years, the community has come together to make many positive changes. A more effective administrating structure has resulted in a trolley system that has been put into service during the summer months, reverse 911 for emergency information, an amusement park, a revised zoning ordinance, a Sea Isle Revitalization Program, and a long-range capital-spending plan.
He has been a leader in bringing about important economic reforms including, elimination of health benefits for part-time employees, including Council members; an overall reduction in the city’s health benefit program; and an employee reduction program. He strongly believes that it is the City Council role to “hold operating costs down and spend taxpayers’ money as wisely as possible.”
McHale is looking forward to the beautification of the city’s main entrance, with its new “Beach to Bay” corridor project, and working with the County during this project. He looks ahead to the construction of our new library, and the comprehensive road-paving program to begin in the near future. The city will be upgrading its infrastructure to stop the infiltration and inflow of the excess water into the sewer system, which, if not addressed, is very costly to treat at the MUA.
Mike McHale brings with him the experience that is necessary to fulfill the duties facing him, and is committed to working to keep Sea Isle City a first class family resort.
