COURT HOUSE – In a letter to Middle Township GOP Leader Ed Taylor, Deputy Mayor Dan Lockwood announced that he would seek the Middle Township Regular Republican Organization’s endorsement as their candidate for Township Committee. Lockwood, in the final year of his second term on the governing body was first elected in 2009 and reelected in 2012.
“We must reaffirm our commitment to the hard work required to bring lower taxes and more open and responsive government to Middle Township,” Lockwood proclaimed. “This commitment has allowed us to hold the municipal levy below the all time high of 2011 for three straight years. We are working hard to do the same in 2015. With the help of our great team of employees, we will continue to put in place the reforms that have led to reduced debt and an easing of the tax burden on our taxpayers, while maintain the level of service our residents deserve.“
Lockwood, a small business owner with a degree in accounting from Glassboro College, lives in Court House with his wife, Sylvia and two daughters, Danielle and Meghan.
“My desire to continue to serve is all about the future for our families,” Lockwood said. “Mayor Tim Donohue and I are committed to working with our residents to bring a brighter future to our town. Our goal, by keeping taxes low and creating an environment to attract and retain quality businesses in Middle Township, is a better quality of life for all.”
Lockwood cited the reorganization of Township Departments, the long term plan for improvements to township roads and infrastructure and the hiring of additional police officers as important improvements made in the past year.
“We have put in place a solid foundation of real reform and innovative approaches to better government,” Lockwood explained. “We are finally putting the messes we inherited behind us. We want folks to look to Middle Township as a model for successful, twenty-first century municipal government.”
Lockwood pointed to Mayor Tim Donohue’s resounding reelection victory as a positive performance review from the voters of Middle.
“The election of 2014 proved that voters who are paying attention want to continue with our reform agenda,” Lockwood said. “I’m eager and energized to continue this good work. I look forward to getting back on the doors and hearing our residents comments and concerns.”
