Attorney Stuart Meissner Announces Challenge to Booker for Senate Seat

Cape May County

By Press Release

TRENTON – Stuart Meissner, a former prosecutor and whistleblower attorney, has decided to challenge Democratic Sen. Cory Booker for U.S. Senate in 2020, following an exploratory committee formed this summer.
According to a release that announced his candidacy, Meissner stated, “After speaking to voters and activists around the state over the past few weeks, I have been struck by the overwhelming desire to replace New Jersey’s celebrity senator with someone who is willing to actually work for the people of this state – not just chase votes in Iowa. It’s for this reason, along with continuing a lifelong passion for fighting for the middle-class, that I will present New Jersey voters with a real alternative to Cory Booker.”
He continued, “New Jerseyans deserve a senator who not only has their best interests at heart, but also one who can work with the senate majority to bring infrastructure dollars and property tax relief back to the state.”
The circumstances of the 2020 contest create an opportunity for a political outsider like Meissner.
Nationally, Booker has devoted himself entirely to his presidential campaign. Locally, his time as mayor has again come into question with the emergence of the water quality crisis in Newark. The pattern is a familiar one for Booker: his attention is everywhere else but on the voters who put him in office.
Meissner enters the race as a force from outside the political world. He is the son of a Jewish immigrant who fled Nazi Germany one day after Kristallnacht; who grew up to be a prosecutor taking on organized crime, violent criminals, child predators, and fraudsters.
When he entered private practice, his goal was a simple one: protecting the interests of average investors and middle-class families. Throughout his career, he has been unafraid to stand up to Wall Street giants in pursuit of making defrauded investors whole and ensuring that employees were fairly compensated and treated without discrimination.
Meissner has represented SEC whistleblowers, including the recipient of the largest accounting fraud award in the history of the program. Under his representation, Meissner obtained a multi-million-dollar award for his client and fine against the mega agribusiness and chemical company Monsanto.
Now he is running for the U.S. Senate, taking on one of Wall Street and Big Pharma’s biggest benefactors, Cory Booker.
He will represent the people of New Jersey by speaking truth to power as he as always done throughout the course of his 31-year career. He will fight to reduce the middle-class tax burden, lower prescription drugs prices and healthcare costs, take on big tech and protect our privacy rights.
Meissner is proud to have raised two teenagers – Kaitlyn and Dylan – in Bergen County. He is looking forward to once again pursuing justice – this time for the voters of the Garden State.
