Paul Newman to be honored by Film Society

By On Deck Staff

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m., the Cape May Film Society will host a special presentation on Paul Newman’s work at the Beach Theatre. JC Stinson will share personal stories and a history of the actor, followed by a screening of his 1961 classic, “The Hustler.”
“Newman has left behind a body of work that contains many of Hollywood’s masterpieces,” says Stinson, who had an acquaintance with Newman for a brief time while living in California. “What a great guy—loved racing, sports—a remarkable person. He once told People magazine, ‘Racing is the best way I know to get away from all the rubbish of Hollywood’.”
A portion of the proceeds from the night will go to “Newman’s Own Foundation,” to carry on Newman’s commitment of donating to charity all profits and royalties he earns from the sale of Newman’s Own products.
