Owen’s Pub sixth annual memorial run-walk

By On Deck Staff

Started in 2003 through the AOH and the Irish Festival, this Run-Walk organized by Owen’s Pub, North Wildwood, donates its proceeds to the Shiner’s Hospital for Children, Philadelphia.
Michael and Peggy Haldeman, co-owners of the Pub, have a son, Owen, who has received extensive care through Shriner’s Hospital. Owen was approved for care there when he was 7 months old and has since had three hand operations and many checkups, follow-ups and great loving care there.
“We feel so blessed and understand that Shriner’s is such a wonderful organization that takes care of so many children who really need it. We love that this is an opportunity to give back to those who bless you and you will truly be blessed for you support.”
This Run-Walk is also a Memorial Run in the name of Michael and TJ’s father — Tink. Tink passed away in January 1997. He was a man who first loved his wife, his kids and the shore.
Tink was a lifeguard on the beaches of North Wildwood where he met the love of his life Mary Haldeman and the rest is history. Seven kids later, all of their greatest memories are in North Wildwood, on the beaches, the boardwalk and at Grandmom’s house.
“It is great that this run is here at the shore in North Wildwood, it is the perfect place.”
Sponsorships start at $25 and go up from there. For your donation your name is placed on the back of the Run t-shirt. If you can’t be a sponsor, be a participant. For a $15 donation, you get a T-shirt, medal and a chance to make a difference while having fun too.
The Run-Walk takes place Saturday, Sept. 20 at 8 a.m.
