By On Deck Staff

She has taken the art world by storm, drawing worldwide praise from prestigious museum curators and renowned art experts.
Although she achieved international fame by the young age of 10, Alexandra Nechita has chosen to use her energy and passion to dedicate herself and her amazing artwork to a global peach initiative.
Ocean Galleries welcomes the extraordinary young artist, Alexandra Nechita, back to the Jersey Shore for her second consecutive summer exhibition. Her “Quest for Peace” collection of over 50 paintings and sculptures opens on Friday, Aug. 3 and runs through Sunday, Aug. 5, with Alexandra making personal appearances during intimate receptions throughout the weekend.
Hailing from Romania, Alexandra began drawing at the age of two and was painting with oils and acrylics by the age of seven. Her first exhibit, a one-woman/child show, was held at a Los Angeles public library when she was just eight years old.
Alexandra’s talent was instantly recognized as capacity crowds came to see her amazing and often monumental abstract paintings.
The press soon labeled her “The Petite Picasso,” drawing the attention of art critics and media around the world who began claiming her as the rarest of child prodigies – an artist who had mastered drawing and color, and who had created a visual language of her own, by the young age of nine years old.
Alexandra has gone on to exhibit her magnificent art throughout the world, including exhibitions in Romania, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, France, England, Singapore, Japan and New Zealand. Her art is in the collections of dozens of museums worldwide, including the Vatican Collection in Rome and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, as well as in the private collections of numerous celebrities.
In November of 1999, Alexandra was selected by the World Federation of United Nations to lead a Global Arts Initiative involving more than 100 Nations.
In April 2004, Teen People called Alexandra Nechita, “One of 20 Teens Who Will Change the World!” She is passionate about using her artistic gift to promote a message of peace and has lent her talents to numerous related projects.
Nechita’s designs were chosen for a set of legal tender commemorative coins entitled, “Peace Is the Only Option!” Struck in pure gold, silver and platinum, the designs were specially approved by Queen Elizabeth II whose effigy also adorns the coins.
In June 2005, Nechita presented her massive 16-foot tall bronze monument entitled “Let There Be Peace” to the people of Singapore. Nechita is creating seven monuments in all – one for each continent on Earth.
Through her astonishing work, Alexandra has touched millions of lives worldwide and will be recognized as a global influence through the spirit of the arts in the 21st Century.
The “Quest for Peace” exhibition will feature over 50 pieces of art that will include paintings, lithographs, and sculptures by Alexandra Nechita. The show opens to the public at Ocean Galleries, 9618 Third Ave., Stone Harbor, on Aug. 3 to Aug. 5.
There will be opportunities to meet Alexandra Nechita at gallery receptions on Aug. 3 and Aug. 4 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Aug. 5 from noon to 3 p.m.
Ocean Galleries is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the summer season. For more information or for directions, call 609-368-7777 or visit www.oceangalleries.com.
