Over 40 organizations will participate in Ocean City’s Christmas Parade set for Dec. 13 starting 10:30 a.m. The Parade route is from 6th to 11 sts. on Asbury Ave.
The Parade will be followed by the second annual City Hall Open House from noon to 1:30 p.m. City Hall is located at the corner of 9th and Asbury Ave. Offices will be decorated with unique wreaths and there will be entertainment and refreshments.
The Christmas Parade will feature bands, floats and costumed characters. It will be led
by the Elizabeth High School Marching Band.
Other musical groups include the popular Pitman Hobo Band, Ted Prior performing an Elvis Christmas, entertainers from ‘Tis the Season, a Christmas gala set for the City’s Music Pier, Dec.19-21 and the world’s only Wind Chimes Band sponsored by NAP, the National Association of Tired People.
Floats include Ronald Mac Donald, Ocean City Home Bank, Wonderland Amusement Pier, the Chatterbox, A Mouse’s Christmas and the Annual Variety Comedy Show at the Music Pier on Dec. 13 to benefit Gilda’s Club. Fire engines from Ocean City and Marmora will roll by.
Mayor Sal Perillo will ride in the Parade. He will be joined by Molly Lavin, Miss Ocean City, Carley Boehning, Little Miss Ocean City and Sarah Ford, Junior Miss Ocean City.
Brownie troops will be represented and there will be Llamas from Bready Farms in Tuckahoe, ponies, the Seashore Dog Training Club and antique autos.
Individual performers include Suzanne Muldowney portraying the Ice Princess, a stilt walker and the Wind Chimes Christmas Tree.
Santa will arrive in a horse and carriage and greet children after the Parade in front of City Hall at the Open House. There will be free carriage rides with Santa from noon till 3 p.m.
The Open House at City Hall will include a tour featuring unique wreaths created by City personnel, carols sung by Andi Cocozza and Doug Hanson, the Wind Chimes Christmas Tree, cookies and hot chocolate and greetings by Mayor Sal Perillo. There will be an area to drop off gifts for our personnel serving in the Armed forces.
Among the gift items suggested are chap stick, razors, eye moisture drops, protein bars, small powdered drink mixes to add to water bottles, mouthwash, tooth brushes, sugar free candy, tissues, foot powder, Microwave foods, batteries (any size), cookies, coffee packets, tea bags, suntan lotion, writing paper, pens, pencils, used cell phones, aspirin, cough and allergy medicines, vitamins, snack foods (nuts, chips, etc.), wipes, toilet paper, deodorant and feminine products. All items should be medium or small in size.
No pump type bottles.

A.R.M.S., American Recreational Military Services, is a non profit organization that honors Armed Forces serving overseas. They provide comfort packages to all branches of the military.
The idea is to make life more comfortable for our men and women during their time overseas and to send them a big “thank you” for their sacrifices.
