New Elks lodge opens in Lower Township.

By On Deck Staff

On Jan. 9, after a four-year search, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 2839 opened its doors for business.
When the Lodge was established in 2006, a search began to find an affordable, centrally located building in Lower Township. But this was during the height of the real estate boom, and what was available was not necessarily affordable.
So in July of 2008, with the approval of the trustees and membership, a lease was signed for the building located at 917 Bayshore Road, Villas.
The renovation project was headed by Exalted Ruler, Jerry Krause. With his vision and direction, and with a lot of help from some very dedicated members, Lodge 2839 became a reality.
The Elks organization is very involved in various charities within the community, such as veterans and special needs children.
The grand opening for members and their guests will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 1-5 p.m.
Memberships can be obtained from another Elk, or pick one up at the Lodge.
The membership is pleased to be a part of this community. The Lodge offers a pleasant, friendly atmosphere to relax and have good conversation with friends.
It’s a place “where almost everyone knows your name.”
