Nature Center offers second birdseed sale

By On Deck Staff

New Jersey Audubon’s Nature Center of Cape May is offering its second fall birdseed sale through Nov. 22, just in time for holiday gift giving and to restock your own seed supply for the oncoming winter.
Package the seed with a bird feeder, bird seed scoop, and other accessories available at the nature center for a perfect holiday gift for a neighbor or friend.
A wide selection of high quality bird feeders, including the Droll Yankee brand, may be found in our nature store, and all bird-related items are on sale with an extra 10 percent off during the birdseed sale.
The new “green” addition to New Jersey Audubon’s seed line up, “Jersey Grown” Black-Oil Sunflower Seed, proved to be a big hit during the first sale in September and sold out quickly. This seed has been restocked for the second sale.
The S.A.V.E. (Support Agricultural Viability and the Environment) Brand Black-Oil Sunflower Seed is locally-grown, bird and environment-friendly, and even less expensive.
S.A.V.E. is the result of an historic partnership between Hunterdon and Somerset county farmers and New Jersey Audubon. It is the first birdseed certified “Jersey Grown” by the NJ Department of Agriculture.
In addition to the sunflower seed, there are a variety of high quality, freshly milled seed mixtures, nyjer seed, safflower kernels, cracked corn, and suet cakes available.
You can download an order form at njaudubon.org, or call the nature center at 609-898-8848 to request one.
Fax your completed form to 609-898-8512, or mail with payment to NCCM, 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, 08204.
You may pick up your seed at the same location Dec. 6, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The birdseed sale is an important fundraiser for the nature center, with all proceeds used to support nature center educational programs.
One additional winter birdseed sale will be held in January, with a pick up date in February.
