MTHS Senior Makes The Grade as National Merit Scholar Finalist

By Herald Staff

Middle Township High School Senior Ruby Barry is a finalist in the competi-tion to become one of 8,200 Merit Scholarship winners in the country in 2009. Barry is now in the running. According to the National Merit Scholarship Program, only 15,000 of the 1.4 million entrants in the yearly competition reach finalist standing. Selection is based on PSAT & SAT scores, recommendations from high school officials, student activities and leadership, and the finalist’s personal essay. The winners will be announced later this spring.
