Missing 23 Years, Mark Himebaugh’s Case Will Be Scrutinized by Experts in February

By Press Release

DEL HAVEN – Today, Nov. 25, marked the 23rd anniversary of the disappearance of Mark Himebaugh, 11, who disappeared from the area of his home Nov. 25, 1991.
The freckled, red-haired, blue-eyed boy was 4’ 6” tall and weighed 85 pounds. He was last seen by his mother, Maureen Himebaugh, at about 4 p.m.
An exhaustive search of the area resulted in finding only his left sneaker about 75 yards from his home. No other trace of him has been found.
He was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt, gray jacket, gray pants and sneakers.
Investigators are continuing to seek information from the Himebaugh family, friends, neighbors, and members of the public to bring the investigation to a close.
In February 2015 a team of active and retired investigators will be going to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for a case review.
This will be a comprehensive case review involving experts from across the nation to examine and collate all data that has been collected over the past 23 years.
Middle Township Police Chief Christopher Leusner stated, “We will continue to work hard and never give up on this case. I am looking forward to the review.”
In July, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children created an age-progressed image of Himebaugh. The picture depicts what he may look like at age 34.
Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor commended the efforts of detectives, past and present, for their dedication and determination to find answers and bring closure for the Himebaugh family. “The continued efforts of these detectives do not go un-noticed,” he stated.
