Lower 4.26.2006

By Christine Cote

Moving toward May we leave behind a month that was dedicated to focusing on Autism, underage drinking and preventing child abuse.
These important issues shouldn’t be forgotten after April 30.
We should all want to know what causes autism and demand that research be done.
Help a teenager you know understand the consequences of underage drinking and if you know a family that may be so stressed that a child might be in danger, reach out and offer any help you can.
We are all part of the same community, what affects one of us should interest us all.

Gardening by the Sea will celebrate Arbor Day Friday at 10 a.m. at the municipal building. Join local officials, club members and students form the David Douglass Memorial School in welcoming spring and honoring trees.
It would be a good day to plant a new tree on your property. We have so many being removed from development, we all should try to replace those we can.
The club will hold its next meeting on May 3 in the meeting room of the Municipal Building at 10 a.m.
Members will bring flower arrangements they created to the meeting to be critiqued by professional flower show judges.
Stop buy and get some good ideas on how to arrange those blooms you cut from your garden or buy for your home.
Coffee and refreshments will be served at 9:30 a.m.

***
Cold Spring Presbyterian Church will serve up a country breakfast May 6 in Price Hall from 8-11 a.m. The breakfast buffet will include pancakes, eggs, and breakfast meats.
It’s seven dollars for adults and five dollars for children. Proceeds will benefit the preservation and maintenance of Price Hall.
