The Beach Theatre Foundation announced that the Washington Improv Theater’s iMusical: The Improvised Musical will be performed live on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m. at the Beach Theatre in Cape May.
This is a benefit performance of the critically acclaimed improvised musical to help save the historic Beach Theatre.
iMusical is performed with audience participation. Audience members are solicited by the six-member cast and then the iMusical performers instantly dream up story-lines and musical songs.
iMusical has been performed in Washington, D.C. to rave reviews:
DC Theatre Reviews reported, “I’m always stunned and amazed how this troupe of improv geniuses creates a musical in front of our eyes. Get thee to the iMusical.”
“It will be a fun night of great performances, lots of humor and memorable music. The Beach Theatre Foundation sincerely thanks iMusical for their benefit performance. It comes at a time when the foundation is in great need of financial support from the public to keep the theatre open and find a developer to purchase the property.” said Steve Jackson, president and founder of the Beach Theatre Foundation.
Travis Ploeger, director of iMusical, commented on the upcoming benefit: “My wife and I saw our first movie together at the Beach. While many people might not consider Batman Begins to be a great ‘date movie,’ it seemed to work out okay for us.
That theater has given us some great memories, and I’m thrilled that I’ll get an opportunity to give something back.”
Tickets for the benefit performance are $25. Order tickets by calling 1-800-838-3006 or visit www.beachboxoffice.com, or go to the Beach Theatre box office at 711 Beach Avenue in Cape May.
