Discover the art of basket weaving at a workshop held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 4 at the Main Branch of the Library, 30 Mechanic St., Cape May Court House.
Both beginners and experienced weavers are welcome to attend. Various aspects of weaving are taught allowing participants to create a useful work of art.
At the end of the workshop each person will have completed a basket.
Instructor Laurie Schiffelbein became captivated with weaving while attending a workshop held in Honolulu, Hawaii, and she enjoys sharing this traditional craft by teaching others. Schiffelbein has a degree in Studio Art from the Atlantic Cape Community College.
Class size is limited; therefore registration with a valid library card is required. A non-refundable material fee of $10 is due at registration.

The Cape May City Public Library, Ocean and Hughes streets will welcome Ranger Matt of the Cape May Point State Park as he gives a special presentation at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14.
Matt offers information and brings local reptiles and amphibians along with some fascinating and strangely different curious “exotics” to examine. This entertaining and informative program is for all ages.
Cape May Point State Park is a key site on the NJ Coastal Heritage Trail, with an environmental center that houses a classroom for interpretive programs and a museum on the area’s natural and historic features.
