G. Potter King’s Atlantic City Classic Car Show rolls into the Atlantic City Convention Center Thursday, Feb. 28 through Sunday, March 2 for a frenzy of classic car auctions and sales.
Celebrating its 35th anniversary, this annual event has become America’s largest indoor classic car event and attracts thousands of collectors from around the country.
More than 1,100 vintage cars will be on display each day of the auction. Cars that aren’t sold during the auction will be available at a post-sale lot where representatives from G. Potter King will market them to potential buyers.
Additionally, more than 250 cars will be available in the Car Corral for direct sales by the owners.
The Car Salon will feature direct sales of vehicles valued at $50,000 and up, as well as specialty cars in the $25,000 to $50,000 range.
Direct sales of vehicles from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s will be held in the Car Canopy, and a Hot Rod section will feature customs, modified cars, pro street machines and street rods, also available for direct sales.
Hot cars attract celebrities. Last year Reggie Jackson showed up, and Boston Red Sox star Manny Ramirez offered his Lincoln for sale.
Organizers expect his attendance with one of his cars to be on display, along with other luminaries.
An antiques flea market will feature approximately 500 booths.
On Thursday, February 28, the auction activity moves to the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa at 7 p.m. for “The Best of the Best,” a premiere presentation of 50 world class autos including such gems as a 1952 Muntz Jet Convertible (fewer than 10 are in existence) complete with a 1952 Muntz TV in working condition, a 1937 Bentley Salon with 76,949 original miles and a 1957 Thunderbird Convertible (a CTCI Gold Award winner) with just 45,000 original miles.
The rarest car is an original untouched 1913 Buick truck.
The Atlantic City Classic Car Show & Auction takes place Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
General admission is $20 for adults, $5 for children under 12. Groups of 20 or more will receive a 20 percent discount.
