Kelleher Honored for over 24 Years of Service 5.11.2006

By Rick Racela

WILDWOOD – “If you want anything done, you call Charlie,” proclaimed Commissioner Fred Wager as the city honored public works supervisor Charles T. Kelleher for receiving the state public service recognition award and for his nearly 25 years of service to Wildwood.
Kelleher, a marine veteran, has been serving the city since October 1980.
Today, May 11, was declared his official day throughout the city.
Known simply as “Charlie” to his friends, family, and coworkers, he proudly wears a huge ring of keys on his belt loop.
“The keys to the city,” said Kelleher as he pats the jingling mass of metal fondly.
“Charlie is a true gem,” said Mayor  Ernie Troiano, Jr. “A diamond in the rough.”
Troiano said that Kelleher, who is currently battling cancer, has never missed his duties at work because of his illness.
“It is people like him who run this city,” added Troiano.
