WOODBINE – The Borough of Woodbine introduced, at its March 16 Council meeting, the Borough Budget for 2017. The local purpose tax continues to be stable for the 27th consecutive year. The rate is at 0.234 cents per $100 assessed value, the same as 2016. This means that a property assessed at $100,000 would pay $234 in local purpose tax.
The 2017 spending plan calls for a total budget of over $2.4 million, (approximately $3 million including federal and state grants) which remains under the 2 percent cap.
Capital projects approved and underway include: $3 million water improvement projects; approximately $2 million road reconstruction; $750,000 for Open Space Park and pedestrian/bikeways project; approximately $400,000 upgrade of Head Start facility; $500,000 for Airport runway rehabilitation.
“Woodbine continues to position itself as one of the lower local purpose tax rates in Cape May County,” noted Mayor Pikolycky.
A public hearing on the municipal budget will be held at the April 20 Borough Council meeting, starting at 7:30 p.m.
