WOODBINE – On May 2, at 10 a.m., the Woodbine Borough Municipal Building, 501 Washington Ave., Woodbine, will be the site for a naturalization ceremony for 19 new citizens from 12 countries hosted by the Atlantic Cape May Superior Court Vicinage.

The ceremony is part of the annual Law Day celebration. The naturalization ceremony is conducted by the Atlantic Cape May Vicinage, along with the Cape May County Bar Association, Cape May County Government, the Borough of Woodbine, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Superior Court Assignment Judge Julio L. Mendez will preside over the ceremony along with Superior Court Judges Susan Sheppard and Christine Smith, who will administer the oath to the new citizens.

“This is the sixth Naturalization Ceremony that our vicinage has proudly hosted for new citizens. We are honored to host the event in the vibrant, multi-ethnic Borough of Woodbine,” Mendez said.

Mayor William Pikolycky added, “As the child of immigrants, who were naturalized after my own birth, I am pleased to have Woodbine be the site for this moving ceremony. Woodbine was founded as an immigrant refuge and continues to welcome people from diverse ethnic backgrounds and thus is an appropriate venue for greeting these newest citizens. I would invite anyone who has never witnessed a naturalization ceremony to join us for this event.”
