Wildwood Parking Meters in Operation

By Herald Staff

WILDWOOD – Ignore parking meters in Wildwood and be prepared to pay a $35 fine.
Effective May 15, Wildwood Police Department began enforcement of meters, which accept quarters, for 10 minutes, or “Pay by Cell” program. Meters will remain in effect until Oct. 1, and are in operation from 8 a.m. until 3 a.m.
According to city police, payment by cell phone allows use of credit cards to pay for parking meter fees. To use that method of payment, users should follow directions on every parking meter. Additionally, parking permits are available for a nominal fee from the Wildwood Municipal Clerk’s Office during regular business hours.
Those who encounter a broken or jammed meter are asked to contact Wildwood Police Department at 522-0222, and then move to a different meter.
Drivers operating a vehicle with a handicap placard or handicapped license plate must put the appropriate amount of money into the meter. If the vehicle will occupy the space for more than the maximum amount the meter holds, the driver must fill the meter to the maximum amount. That will permit the driver to occupy that space for 24 hours, and no further payment will be required at that time.
The parking of trailers, camp cars or similar recreational vehicles is prohibited unless first obtaining a permit from the City Clerk’s Office. No vehicle exceeding 22 feet in length or 10,000 pounds PGW is permitted to park on any street.
