Wildwood Crest Volunteer Fire Co. Lists 2018 Activities

WILDWOOD CREST – The Wildwood Crest Volunteer Fire Company responded to 320 incidents in 2018 and is a 28-member, all-volunteer company. 
Members attended 18 training sessions that resulted in over 500 total man hours of training and education, according to a release.
According to Chief Ron Harwood, the fire company has seen a 41 percent increase in calls for fire response to incidents since 2016.
This past year the fire company had an average of 17 members turnout per call and over 5,250 man hours.
There were 52 dual engine responses with Erma Fire Volunteer Company Station 62 to Diamond Beach area in Lower Township 
There were:
49 – Fire-related incidents: cooking, mulch, grass, vehicle, outside trash fire, structure fires.
26 – Rescue emergency: motor vehicle accidents, stalled elevators, medical assist.
103 – Hazardous condition: gas, electrical, carbon monoxide, outside electrical arking, standby for landing zone.
3 – Service call: assist police, cover-up assignments.
13 – Good intent calls: canceled en route.
126 – Fire alarm activation for investigations.
The fire company was able to purchase a 2018 Ferrara MVP 1750 gallons-per-minute pumper to replace a 1999 pumper and a 1993 rescue truck.
Squad 4 is a six-man cab and has a cascade system for filling SCBA bottles and has a 500-gallon water tank and all Jaws of Life hydraulic equipment for motor vehicle emergencies.
