WEST WILDWOOD – The regular agenda meeting of West Wildwood commenced under a high tide warning as bay waters rose and almost reached their Sandy record.
Mayor Christopher Fox and Commissioners Cornelius Maxwell and Scott Golden met despite the nor’easter that barreled its way up the coast. “It was a minimal agenda,” Donna Frederick, municipal clerk, said after the meeting. When asked how the borough survived the storm, Frederick replied, “It could have been much worse. We were lucky.”
The agenda was two ordinances and three resolutions.
The first ordinance concerns a bond for various capital improvements “in and by the borough…appropriating $765,000.”
Various improvement projects for the borough have already begun, including repairs to Poplar, Magnolia, and I avenues and plans for a new park.
Secondly, establishing “general traffic regulations within the borough” were also amended and passed. As commented on during past meetings, various road signs have been changed for safety reasons in accordance to state law.
As the autumn progresses, holiday plans are in motion here. The official time for the annual Trick or Treat is 5 p.m. Oct. 31. Fox changed the original 5 to 7 time to 5 and 8.
Authorizing the borough to “participate in the Cape May County Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) Update Project” also went into effect as well as awarding a contract for a municipal engineer.
