Vacation Ordinance Tabled

COURT HOUSE – An ordinance to vacate a portion of Maryland Avenue in Middle Township was tabled at Middle Township Committee’s Sept. 17 meeting. The public hearing on the ordinance brought comment from several neighbors in the immediate area. They claimed that loss of that portion of the street would pose a threat to public safety.
Residents told the committee that the narrow streets in the area made it difficult for public safety vehicles to make required turns when accessing homes in an emergency.
“Police, fire trucks and ambulances all use that area to turn around,” one resident noted.
With the township engineer absent, the committee felt it needed more information before voting on the vacation ordinance.
