PETERSBURG – Short-term rentals in Upper Township will soon see regulation to protect against lead-based paint, and related inspections will be implemented, per discussion among Upper Township Committee Jan. 9.
Engineer Paul Dietrich requested that committee members put the issue on their “radar” and start the process to introduce an appropriate ordinance.
According to Township Administrator Gary DeMarzo, “This is another unfunded, required measure from the state.”
He explained that he is going to collaborate with other neighboring municipalities to see what kinds of models or suggestions Upper might deploy in its effort to ensure lead-based paint is not a safety hazard in short-term rentals.
