PETERSBURG – At their Aug. 22 meeting, the Upper Township Committee heard input from residents who say it is well past time for sidewalks to be installed on Route 50.
According to Committee member Kim Hayes, “the Petersburg area from Tyler Road south to the business district…are located have been the scene of accidents, many serious, some, even more tragically, fatal, among walkers and bikers.”
The business district includes the area surrounding Custard Hut and Oasis, a convenience store.
“Since it’s a state road, the township will engage with the state Department of Transportation to request feasibility and cost details to see how this might happen, rather than just saying ‘no’ to these legitimate requests,” Hayes said.
