PETERSBURG – During public comment at the Dec. 16 Upper Township Committee meeting, Green Team Chairperson Ralph Cooper announced that the municipality had garnered several awards related to environmental sustainability.
“We submitted 24 activities in nine categories, and I’m pleased to say that our collective township efforts have been well recognized,” said Cooper. “This is a program started by the League of Municipalities, and our work in civic and business engagement furthering environmental awareness and information dissemination was singled out.
“Further, the township’s elementary school was honored for its commitment to energy-saving, and our school district won a statewide award for improving energy reliance. Over and above the recognition, these awards also are important in branding Upper Township as serious in its work to protect our environment, and will help us be successful when applying for related grants.”
