PETERSBURG – At the Upper Township Committee meeting Oct. 15, Scott McKenna, from National Weather Service (NWS) Mount Holly office, recognized the municipality for its storm readiness preparations.
“This ‘Storm Ready’ award is a result of your township’s excellence in six categories, including relays of storm information and warnings to the right people. Upper is now joining just 19 other communities in New Jersey which have achieved this recognition,” said McKenna.
“We are in a very good position regarding weather-related issues,” said Mayor Richard Palombo, “and I want to commend Scott Morgan, our business administrator, and his staff, for helping us get to this level.”
According to NWS’ website, the Storm Ready program uses a grassroots approach to help communities proactively handle all types of extreme weather, from tornadoes to winter storms, by providing clear-cut guidelines on how to improve hazardous weather operations.
