PETERSBURG – Upper Township’s Chief Financial Officer Barbara Ludy informed municipal governing body members at their Sept. 27 meeting that the health benefits costs will be going up 21% per state imposition of new regulations.
The New Jersey Health Benefits Commission approved significant increases in public worker benefit costs Sept. 14 during its annual rate renewal meeting.
The Herald asked township administration for further details on what the significant hike will mean financially to home and property owners in Upper as well as other taxpayers and the employees themselves. Business Administrator Gary DeMarzo didn’t show his hand.
“At this time, Upper Township has nothing more to offer on the issue,” DeMarzo said.
