UPDATE: 2,800 Get Flu Shots at First County Clinic

By Al Campbell

COURT HOUSE — Nearly 2,800 Cape May County residents were vaccinated at the first drive-through seasonal flu clinic of the season at Kindle Ford Autoplaza Oct. 18.
Despite a constant rain, and chilly temperatures, many awaited their turn on Bayberry Drive.
Freeholder Gerald Thornton commented on the large demand for seasonal flu vaccine. “Although we provide free flu shots to the community every year, the public has demonstrated a lot of interest this flu season in protecting themselves and their families from the flu.” Although the waiting line was long, most people received their flu vaccine within two hours.
The county does not currently have any seasonal flu vaccine in stock.
“We are expecting more seasonal flu vaccine. Our manufacturer tells us we should receive the rest of our order sometime between now and the end of November. As soon as the remainder of vaccine is received, we will schedule another flu clinic,”
Health Officer Kevin Thomas stated.
Information on new seasonal flu clinics will be posted on the department’s website www.cmchealth.net and on the flu hot line 463-6581.
