Traffic Calming OK’d

By Camille Sailer

DENNISVILLE – At its Sept. 24 meeting, Dennis Township Committee approved two resolutions to calm traffic in areas that have been subject to residents’ concerns and complaints.
One location, at the intersection of Main Street and Corson Tavern Road in South Seaville, will have an all-way stop sign installed. The other is on Corson Tavern Road near South Seaville United Methodist Church, where a school zone with reduced speed limits will be established.
“The traffic calming measures passed last night were just a couple more additional measures that we have requested the county impose over the last year,” said Mayor Zeth Matalucci. “We already had them install flashing speed limit signs that show your speed and flash ‘violation’ if you’re exceeding the speed limit, and we are also waiting on the delivery of flashing stop signs for King’s Highway and Dennisville Road.
“We recently lost a resident right near the intersection of Main Street and Corson Tavern Road, so it’s now more important than ever that we get these speeding issues taken care of. We have the church right there that runs a nursery school (hence the school zone), and shore traffic has been making life difficult and dangerous, as the tourists’ GPS in their cars have revealed the ‘locals’ shortcuts,'” he added.
