Tipster’s Call Leads to Drug Arrest

By Herald Staff

AVALON — An Avalon press release states drug-related charges have been filed against Jude Canova, 25, from Brigantine, after police received an anonymous phone call from a tipster.
Police received a call on Sept. 14 that an individual may be dealing drugs from a commercial van. Officer David Glassford responded to the van, which was parked in the 200 block of 63rd Street.
The suspect was doing work in the backyard of a house.
During an interview with police, it was determined that the suspect had Oxycontin in his pocket.
A subsequent investigation led to a search of the van and its contents.
Additional drug paraphernalia was discovered inside the van.
Canova has been charged with Possession of Prescription Drugs without a Prescription; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Possession of a Prescription Bottle without a Label; and Failure to Make Lawful Disposition.
Canova was released on his own recognizance.
