PETERSBURG – At its regular meeting Oct. 24, Upper Township Committee members approved a resolution to reduce the speed limit along Commonwealth Avenue in Strathmere to 25 mph.
During public comment, a representative from the Strathmere Improvement Association, vice president Juliette Schlucter, said she applauded the initiative.
She noted that residents are seeing “near miss accidents…involving children and other pedestrians all the time, including even out of season like now. There are still beachgoers who are parking along the avenue and the congestion is an important issue in this residential area It’s great Sea Isle City already has taken a similar measure along its section of this major road,” she concluded.
