PETERSBURG – Municipal engineer Paul Dietrich informed governing body members at their Oct. 11 meeting that construction in Strathmere is delayed. The area of Bayview Drive and Prescott Avenue in Strathmere may have to wait a bit longer.
The results of the township’s request for bids for reconstruction came in higher than the engineer’s estimated cost.
“The lowest qualified bid is Lexa Concrete. The funding is coming from a combination of two New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) grants, Covid reconstruction monies and a repaving bond that still has $36,000 remaining to be used,” Dietrich said.
“Because state funding is involved, the township needs to go back to the DOT for approval of the over-estimate bid,” he explained.
