By Vince Conti

STONE HARBOR – Stone Harbor Police Chief Thomas Schutta informed Borough Council that emergency calls and dispatch services had completed the transition to the Cape May County Central Dispatch operation at the Cape May County Airport in Erma.
Stone Harbor followed the integration of Lower Township and Wildwood Crest into the centralized emergency response dispatch service.
Central dispatch holds the promise of lower costs to participating municipalities along with access to new technology, which can pinpoint a 911 caller with greater precision than previous technology.
County Office of Emergency Management Director Martin Pagliughi said that it takes four to six months to fully integrate a municipality into the county system, making the eventual transition of all of the county’s municipalities to the system a multi-year effort.
